Jeff McNeil signed a four-year, 61.6 billion won contract with the Mets…”Bringing the batting champion with Lindor”.
Jeff McNeill (30), the Major League Baseball’s “National League (NL) batting champion” last year, extended his contract with his team New York Mets by four years.
On January 31, the New York Mets announced on the club’s website that Jeff McNeill had agreed to a four-year contract extension.
Citing multiple sources, MLB Dotcom explained that the contract is worth $50 million. The contract also reportedly includes $13.75 million more if the contract is extended by one year.
“We are ecstatic thanks to Jeff and his family,” New York Mets owner Steve Cohen said in a statement. He then said, “I’m proud that he chose to extend our partnership.”
ESPN reported that McNeill mentioned a bet with teammate Francisco Lindor (29) in an official announcement. Last season, Lindor said he would present a car if his teammate McNeill became the batting champion.
Jeff McNeill said, “I sent Lindor a video of a luxury brand car not too long ago. I’ll see what happens during spring training.” Lindor, who received the video, responded by saying, “Nice cars.”
Jeff McNeill made his big league debut with the New York Mets in 2018 at the age of 26.
He batted .307 46 home runs and 214 RBIs in 516 big league games in the 2018-2022 season.
McNeil became the NL batting champion with a batting average of 0.326 last year. At the same time, he was also ranked fourth in on-base percentage and fifth in hits.
Fellow Lindor signed a 10-year, $341 million mega-contract with the Mets in April 2021.
